This October, we (Donna & Liv) will be taking part in the Sunset Stroll: In Memory Walk to raise money for Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract, a place that will always hold a special place in our hearts.
In the final weeks of Doreen's life (Donna's Mum, Liv's Grandma), the incredible staff at Prince of Wales Hospice provided not only outstanding care but also compassion, dignity, and kindness when we needed it most.
They helped make the transition from home to the hospice as comforting as possible, ensuring Doreen was comfortable and cared for every single day.
During what was already an unimaginably difficult time, our family experienced another devastating loss when Doreen's husband, our dad and grandad, passed away unexpectedly. Through it all, the hospice staff, nurses, and care team were there for us. They held Doreen's hand, and they held ours too, offering comfort, reassurance, and support when our world had been turned upside down.
No amount of thanks could ever truly repay what they did for our family. By taking part in the Sunset Stroll, we hope to give something back so they can continue providing the same exceptional care and compassion to other families facing the hardest moments of their lives.
