In May 2026, we are running Pontefract 10km to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice in memory of our wonderful colleague and friend, Katy.

Katy was diagnosed with metastatic bowel cancer in September 2025. She was referred for chemo and major surgery at The Christie Cancer Centre in Manchester.
She returned to hospital to be treated for spiking fevers and was eventually treated for infections. She was eventually sent for an abdominal CT which ruled out the blood clot but did find that the ovarian masses were bigger and necrotic and there were now fractures in parts of her spine. This meant there was no longer anything they could do for treatment.
By October, she was being cared for at the Prince of Wales Hospice Pontefract who provided exceptional care for her and her family allowing them to all spend her final weeks together. Katy passed peacefully at the Prince of Wales Hospice in November.
We as her colleagues and friends are raising funds to allow others to receive the same level of support and care.
We will all be taking on the Pontefract 10km in May. Some of us are experienced and others brand new to running but together as a team we will complete the challenge in Katy's memory.
